Life · What public records can establish

Daily life needs more than a directory count.

Metroscope currently publishes official school and library locations and clearly scoped household context. Business and facility totals are withheld while their source coverage is rebuilt; neighborhood and cross-border access come next.

Education footprint

Snohomish contains many public-school locations relative to its population.

8 current public-school locations work out to 7.4 per 10,000 residents.

That is an infrastructure footprint—not a measure of quality, enrollment, capacity, or the schools Snohomish residents actually attend. District boundaries and grade-level enrollment are the next checks.

Library footprint

DuPont has a substantial official branch footprint for its population.

1 public-library branch is located inside the city.

Branches serve people across municipal lines. Floor area, hours, and physical circulation add useful scale, while system-wide visits and digital use must remain at the library-system geography.

Why access matters

Seattle shows why a citywide inventory is not enough.

19.0% of households were estimated to have no vehicle in the 2020–2024 ACS.

For those households, the useful question is not how many destinations sit inside a city border, but which groceries, schools, libraries, parks, and care locations are reachable safely and reliably.

How the measures connect

School locations and family concentration do not follow the same pattern everywhere.

A city can contain many family households without containing every school those residents attend. The comparison identifies places where attendance boundaries, capacity, and cross-city travel deserve a closer look; it does not measure school quality or access.
